Bangkok-bound: Day 2

On Seph: Human jacket and checkered shorts, Sperry Topsiders, brown satchel that matches Shai’s, which we got both for a cool bargain. Hype this on Lookbook!

On Shai: floral-print chiffon babydoll dress, elephant necklace, orange socks, silver Sperry Topsiders, brown satchel that matches Seph’s. It’s become one of our favorite his-and-hers items ever: just the right amount of sweet without being corny. Hype this on Lookbook!

Other than to finally satiate our long-held curiosities about what it’s like to visit places outside this country (Seph has only been on a plane for Boracay and while Shai has been to Malaysia last year, she didn’t get to visit Petronas Towers, so it doesn’t count), another reason we tagged along with her mom on this tour was to do some bargain-hunting. So off we went.

View from our van. The way the buildings look, we couldn’t resist snapping away.

First order of business: some nutriments. We ate in the food court of the six-story Platinum Fashion Mall, which is like Greenhills and 168 in Divisoria combined—haul posts next week! The security guards were super strict about prohibiting photography inside. Thank goodness we have iPhones for these food shots: really spicy noodle soup for Seph (as usual), tasty crunchy veggies with shrimp for Shai, and beyond-heavenly chocobanana ice cream crepe for dessert. Everything was so good, and cost us the equivalent of around 200 pesos only. Crazy!

That’s Shai’s mom in purple. We were making our way back to Indra Regent (see it far ahead?) to haul or hauls (hehe) back to the hotel room before heading out again. Even as shopping in Platinum took us about six hours, we were raring for more walking and ended up in Central World, a high-end shopping center that seems to be the Thai version of our very own Greenbelt, Bonifacio High Street, The Podium and Power Plant Mall (yes, combined—it’s huge and has a power cast of shops, as we’ll show you on Day 3). We passed by street food stalls on the way and refilled our tummies with these.

Pork barbecue and sticky rice. We mimicked the passersby and ate this with barbecue on one hand and the sticky rice like a sandwich on the other. Vinegar dip optional.

And hey… what’s this?

Could it be…

Our favorite drinks of all?

Yehess! Green Tea and Milk Tea that’s, dare we say it, yummier than any drink we’ve ever had in the more expensive tea shops here! See that 20 sign? It means we got these for the equivalent of 36 pesos each. Tall glasses at that.

Spotted: Chuck Taylors-inspired sneaker bags. Kulit! Today’s street sights and street food were real fun.
