A breezy top with jeans and boots is pretty much a manifestation of how I feel about the current transitional season. It won’t be long before temperatures start rising again in time for the summer, but I’ve always been a cold-weather girl so I wanted to hold on to whatever few and fleeting chilly spells we can still enjoy.
Hot or not, I love how the bright colors of spring/summer can perk up any outfit and give it that carefree, casual feel. Check out this ombré orange necklace! It’s not really my favorite shade, but I’ve been wearing this piece a lot because it just seems to make my outfits happier somehow.
Yellow and green are a different story—two colors I love wearing. Especially yellow. I got this bag from my aunt exactly a year ago during my birthday trip to the US and I’ve been wearing it to death every chance I get… I tend to do that with gifts from loved ones.
If you’ve been a longtime reader of this blog (and I sure hope you are!) then you’ve also seen these boots a lot. Because really, what can’t you wear with a nice pair of brown boots?
I seldom wear jeans anymore and usually go for shorts or dresses, but I’m glad I went with my gut that afternoon. As with most of my outfits, I put this together at the last minute to go and attend the Philippine launch of American Eagle Outfitters. Maybe because I’ve been a fan of the brand since college, my chosen neon-and-jeans ensemble was spot on with AEO’s Light and Bright Spring Collection.
Denim and bright colors with an easy, breezy California vibe.
The launch was held at Bonifacio High Street, where AEO’s flagship store is located. Hollywood actress and AEO ambassador Shay Mitchell (“Pretty Little Liars”) was flown in for hosting duties, along with Raymond Gutierrez.
The fashion show was a burst of colors that were the right amount of happy and laid-back.
My friend, blogger Dani Barretto, was one of the models who walked the AEO runway, rocking faded sorbet pink jeans and neon accessories.
An otherwise basic brown hoodie with “New York” in orange. Yes, even menswear cannot escape the neon trend.
Dani’s sister, teen actress Julia Barretto, pretty in pastels. A tangerine cardigan over candy stripes and denim shorts makes for a chic summery look.
Layering seemed a mainstay in many of the looks at AEO, especially for guys. Nothing too overdone; still a combination of preppy and summer.
Dani and Julia’s baby sister Claudia also walked that evening in a crochet top and chiffon scarf paired with peach jeans.
A brighter, more neon version of the New York hoodie above. For guys out there who are worried about looking too “loud,” all you have to do is wear darker-shade bottoms to balance your look.
In the genes: Dominique Barretto-Cojuangco also modeled for AEO, walking in a pleated high-low skirt and neon pink belt.
The fashion show was quite long and seemed to showcase the entire collection, but there was never a dull moment. The colors were beautiful, the models were dancing and smiling while walking, and everyone was having a great time from when the band started playing to the moment the confetti burst from the ceiling.
After the show, guests were led to the opening of the AEO flagship store in High Street.
US ambassador Harry Thomas with CEO Ben Chan. Many A-listers in the showbiz and fashion industries were there, but I’m always too shy to take photos of that sort of thing, heh.
Photos of blogger friends instead. David Guison, Paul Chuapoco, Aisa Ipac, Hezron Peralta, Miguel Alomajan, Christine Liwag, Carvey Samonte, Miko Carreon, Mikyle Quizon, Cheyser Pedregosa. And Alyssa Lapid below. Nice to see y’all again!
It’s been a while since I’ve been out and about! I’ve been a hermit for most of 2012, juggling jobs and struggling with responsibilities and circumstances and basically trying to keep my head above water the whole time. I’m happy to finally have the time and breathing space to feel light and bright again. ❤
