Coming Up Roses

Hang Ten rose print dress, CMG strappy clogs, Divisoria accessories. Hype this on Lookbook here, favorite it on our joint Chictopia here.

Bows, bouquets, braids—pile on the sweetness, why not? Whenever I can’t help but do so, I usually have to inject some edge in it, hence the animal print on the shoes.

My mom took these photos outside our house in Pampanga last week while Seph had his own outfit shoot with his older sister in Tagaytay. My kid brother’s birthday falls on the same day as that of Seph’s mom’s, so of course, we spend it with our families. Even when we can’t be together for a shoot though, we share with each other what we plan to wear so that our outfit shots still make some sense when published.

Nothing too deliberate, really. We’re just lucky that we’re on the same wavelength about many things (and when we’re not, it’s usually because one has something to teach or learn from the other). See his version of this look here!

Day in the life: Quickie nails

Just of those days when our planners are all filled in save for a couple of breaks. Feeling-paparazzi shot by Janine. Haha.

We decided to make use of our short free time to go to Nail It! salon in Katipunan to get our paws pampered. We’ve been hearing about how fast and pleasant the service is at Nail It! for a while now and we thought we’d check it out for ourselves.

The interiors are a clean purple and white, which coincidentally is one of our favorite color schemes. Seph’s bedroom is actually purple and white!

I opted for a mani-pedi with paraffin.

The warm paraffin and cotton gloves felt as comfy as a baby’s mittens that I actually fell asleep, after which my girls thought it would be funny to put floral shades on me and take a picture. (Okay, it is funny lol)

I want these “mittens” at home! Along with the paraffin, it does feel nice and soft on the hands.

Meanwhile, we didn’t really take a break from work. Mobile devices are both boon and bane, we find.

Shai: I was asked to choose from a variety of nail art and nail colors. But being a girl who’s constantly running errands and doing my own housework, fancy nails wouldn’t be practical. I chose this nude color called “Silk Stocking” by Orly. It’s a pastel barely-there shade that makes nails look simple and clean.

We were done in about half an hour, just in time for our next appointment. As refreshing as taking a power nap! Thanks, Nail It! We will definitely be back.

Baby blue baby doll

Love Chic was invited to the ACLE (Alternative Classroom Learning Experience) of UP College of Engineering to talk “Styling for Different Body Types on a Budget” yesterday (thanks guys!) and this is what Shai wore.

Heart-print baby blue babydoll dress and black mens blazer, Chemistry. Brown braid belt, thrifted. Booties, Call It Spring.

No colored contact lenses on those nearsighted eyes. Baby blue nail polish, The Face Shop. Owl, vintage-inspired locket, and heart rings, all Chemistry.

These boots are divine. The five-inch heels enable Shai to actually feel as tall as Seph, but they’re as comfortable as sneakers—only a lot prettier!

Hype this on Lookbook here.

HELLO KITTY NAILS:

You’ll need a couple of hours, a lot of patience and an absolute love for Hello Kitty. Inspired by our lovely Tricia, whose most recent gift to Shai was a Hello Kitty mascara (but really, you should see her room with all the Kitty stuff in it!)

Done with nail dot pens and pink polish from The Face Shop, plus leftover yellow polish and stickers. If you’d like a tutorial, leave a Disqus comment below this post and tag @sephshai in your comment. If we get enough requests then yeah we’ll do a cute video :)

LEOPARD PRINT NAILS

Click here for the YouTube tutorial. Inspired by Gondo Girl makeup artist Marj who just adores anything leopard-print. This nail art is super easy to do—go check it out and try it yourself!

RAINBOW NAILS

Click here for the YouTube tutorial. Thanks to Gondo Girl artist Feanne for the request that inspired this first attempt at striped nail art. It wasn’t easy looking for the perfect ROYGBIV to go together, but super fun!

RINGS, BANGS AND NAIL POLISH:

Boredom often results in us cutting our own hair, hanging out at Burger King and playing with nail polish (yes, the nail job was a collaborative effort).

RAINBOW BRIGHTS:

Shai just painted her nails in candy green, pink, purple, yellow and blue. No better way to happy things up!
