It was pretty much spent indoors and in cold places, and I can’t say I won’t miss the clear skies and the general feeling of longing to laze around in a cabana whiling the worries away. So I figured I’d do a proper send-off by going on a mini summer vacation, in something season-appropriate: pool-party garb. One for the road, so they say.
Milly neoprene bikini in Candy Pink, Triangl. White mesh vest as cover-up, 101 New York. Necklace, SM Accessories.
Aqua chiffon button-down as cover-up, Ensembles. Hat, SM Accessories.
For a number of reasons (not least of which is that I’m not exactly the most toned of bodies in a day and age of toned bodies), I can count all the times I’ve ever been in a two-piece swimsuit: a couple for the Boracay specials of the TV shows I co-produced, once to demo which bikini suits what body type (me under the “petite” category). The only time it wasn’t for a job was when I went diving, but I’m in a suit all day anyway. Needless to say, being out there in one for the sake of spontaneity feels refreshing.
I love the comic book pop art vibe of this pair. It balances nicely with the candy pink—something I always try to do to regulate an otherwise too girly look.
Don’t say you haven’t been warned—following these outfit photos are scrumptious shots of what we had for dinner at Torch with friends. Hence the garterized skirt to make room at the tummy area. Haha!
I really love this SM Accessories necklace, so I looked for items I could wear with it instead of the other way around. The geometric print Veva Deeluxe dress was kind of short and edgy on its own, and since we were headed to dinner, I decided to use it as a top and pair with a maxi skirt in a solid color that would go with the necklace.
Where we went: Torch in Greenhills for an intimate Bloggers’ Night Out, in celebration of the restaurant’s second anniversary. Left to right: Sarah, Bestie, Marj (who organized this get-together), Earth, Shen (standing), Ana, Mich, Pax, Jackie and Paul. If you’re seeing a lot of reds, it’s because the outfit theme was “Torch.” So what was for dinner?
Appetizer: Mushroom Bisque. Hot, creamy concoction that your tummy will love.
Appetizer: Truffle Fries. The dip is divine.
Gambas Pizza. Pulutan meets comfort food.
Always such fun rolling these things.
Volcano Roll. Delightfully spicy and flavorful.
Secret Sushi (off-menu). This is hands-down our favorite dish for the night. It’s just so creamy and exploding with flavor.
Wasabi smileys are so cute!
Steak Fondue. Dip it into olive oil and then choose from five different sauces. Yum.
Salpicao Medallion served with rice and veggies. Homey comfort food on a platter.
Dessert: Frozen Brazo de Mercedes. Tasted like a yummy combination of ice cream cake and cheesecake, two of our favorite desserts.
Dessert: Panna Cotta with Fresh Fruits. Light and easy.
The night’s drinks. We picked Cabernet Sauvignon (red) and Chardonnay (white) because it was a Wednesday and Torch has Wine-All-You-Can Wednesdays right now and we like alliterations.
Signature Beer-Tail Mango Daiquiri with Upside-down Beer. We didn’t get to taste this, but it looked like a lot of fun.
Snowflake Coco-Lychee Martini Slush. Fancy cocktail that we also didn’t get to taste. It takes pretty photos though, eh?
Marj and Sarah with Torch owner Mike Chua. Sarah was chosen as the evening’s best-dressed blogger, and she won a year’s worth of Torch Pizzas! Since you’re reading this, we take it you’re not on a diet. If you’re craving for their pizzas too, they’ve got a “Buy 1, Take 1 Pizzas” promo from December 6-8. Click here for more details.
The Power Plant boutique of Cole Haan became filled with pretty lights, good music, fun food and great company on October 25, the brand’s Fall/Winter Launch Party. Taking the spotlight was the Women’s LunarGrand Wingtip Collection.
Dark Brown Suede/Orange, Navy Suede/Topaz and Gull Grey Suede/Volt. Everyone loves their brogues for sleek style and comfort, but these ones are simply as far out as their name.
Also in LunarGrand Wingtips were two very familiar girls: models Julia Sniegowski and Helena Belmonte.
Yes, you can pick random stuff from your closet, tie your hair haphazardly, wear no makeup and still blog about it. Blind Clothing floral dress, Ziggy & Zooey zebra print flats, Martina-Martina tribal-inspired necklace, Chemistry bangles. Hype this on Lookbook here.
A week ago, I was blessed with the most amazing opportunity: to do coverage of Hong Kong Fashion Week for Love Chic! I actually received the invites to be official Overseas Journalists (OJs) of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council as early as Christmas time, but didn’t want to believe it until I actually had the plane tickets on hand.
The flat little building amidst all the skyscrapers is the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), where the fashion shows, trade fair and press conferences all happened. For now, the obligatory outfit post.
From Bangkok dress, H&M shorts, Topshop stockings, Aldo socks, Parisian at SM Department Store booties, Kissaholic satchel bag, 101 New York scarf, SM Accessories connector ring. Hype on Lookbook here.
Happy Year of the Dragon, folks!
Special thanks to Miss Vivienne Chee and Chloe Kiosk of the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council.

And cutie patootie Vern, whom we met in person at Bloggers United 2.
Shai recently did a photoshoot for Style Diaries as well, so watch for it come early next year. Meanwhile, we hope you get to read her fashion story and let us know what you think!
What we wore to today’s general convocation of Commerce students in UST, where we gave a talk on “Creativity in Business.”
This day was a blur—as gasgas as it is to say this, time really flies when you’re having fun and fun we definitely had. This is only our second time to give a talk, the first one being for the ACLE of UP Diliman’s Engineering students (yes, it’s the same dress design on Shai, only in blue). So to be welcomed so warmly by the Thomasians, to be eagerly asked so many questions and be told how much we inspire students, gives us some seriously fuzzy feelings. As promised, snapshots below.
View of the slideshow from the upper rows at the back. The talk was held at the UST Medicine Auditorium.
Impromptu “class picture” of students who didn’t leave right away, taken from the stage. Now we wish we could’ve posed with them instead. Heh.
Our little sister Janine Cham. She’s one of the organizers, as the Public Relations Officer of UST Pre-Com Society. We’re so proud!
With hosts Topi and Chloe and events planner/host/voice talent Guggles. It’s our first time to meet them but we instantly clicked.
We want to post more photos, but different cameras were used and these are the only ones from ours. Whomever we missed, shout-out to you guys!
Thank you to everyone for having us, especially to those who made it possible. We really enjoy doing these things, sharing our stories, being stand-up comedians and impromptu dancers. So if you’re in school and you’d like to have us for your edu-tainment, email us and we’d be glad to be there.
