“Stretch Your Wardrobe” by Shai. Been doing this sort of thing for magazines and TV shows for five years now haha. Mixing and matching will always be one of our favorite things, and we’re happy to keep getting requests for it on Dear Love Chic. We can never get tired of teaching you guys how to maximize your budget—and closet.

Shai recently did a photoshoot for Style Diaries as well, so watch for it come early next year. Meanwhile, we hope you get to read her fashion story and let us know what you think!

Shoes on a shoestring budget:

With classes in full swing, your trusty sneakers are back on active duty. No doubt the nicer pairs have moved to the higher rungs of your shoe rack, reserved for weekend parties and special occasions. But who says the only options for school are either comfy-frumpy or tasteful-painful? Your worn and torn generic slip-ons can finally take a breather—we scoured the stores in search of cheap and chic shoes you’d love to walk around campus in.

We produced this story a few months back with Tricia who did the photography and her Candy cutie brother Calel (yehess haha) who helped out with the styling and fed us yummy snacks. Fun shoot as always!

Behind the scenes of our shoot with @tgosingtian for a Japanese brand.

Shot in furniture and K-pop novelty gift shop Space Encounters. We can’t wait to show you the photos! Meanwhile, here are some of its sister cafe, Subspace. Always a delight taking pictures there.

Taken with Instagram. First time to blog from our iPhones. So awesome :)

Kim Hyun Joong for The Face Shop

This grainy photo of Kim Hyun Joong (looking at me, I swear!—Shai) is the only one from our iPhones worth sharing. Tricia happily allowed us to grab some from her blog because—we have no excuse—we brought our camera but forgot to put the SD card in. Lesson thoroughly learned: never, ever forget the memory card of your camera the night before a press conference by The Face Shop for the Asian Tour of a Korean star who played Ji Hoo in “Boys Over Flowers.”

Along with some beauty and fashion editors of magazines and fellow bloggers who were present, Shai got to ask KHJ one question: “What daily skin care advice can you give Filipino men?” His reply as translated from Korean: “Because of the kind of weather we have in the Philippines, it is important to always wear sun block when going out, as well as moisturizer at night to prevent the skin from getting damaged.”

This pretty shot is a hint at how frenzied the press con was. The usually nonchalant members of the media were suddenly like giggly high schoolers as soon as KHJ entered the room, and the flashbulbs never stopped until he was completely out of sight.

The Gondo Girls minus Crissey and Feanne: Domz, Val, Marj, Tricia and Shai. We’re usually shy around people in events, so coming and bonding with such wonderful friends makes it a lot less awkward and a whole lot happier.

Laidback tops, statement necklaces, tiered bottoms, and snug boots. Love it whenever Tricia makes a cameo!

Love Chic snapshot grabbed from Val’s blog. Our outfit posts for this day here.

HELLO KITTY NAILS:

You’ll need a couple of hours, a lot of patience and an absolute love for Hello Kitty. Inspired by our lovely Tricia, whose most recent gift to Shai was a Hello Kitty mascara (but really, you should see her room with all the Kitty stuff in it!)

Done with nail dot pens and pink polish from The Face Shop, plus leftover yellow polish and stickers. If you’d like a tutorial, leave a Disqus comment below this post and tag @sephshai in your comment. If we get enough requests then yeah we’ll do a cute video :)

TUMBLR x YOUNG STAR:

Love Chic, Tricia Will Go Places, Vivatregina, Saabmagalona, Robcham, Walkietalkiesmusic and Pelikula are featured today in the Philippine Star’s Young Star section.

“Tumblr succeeds as an outlet for creating cultural niches online, and thus, the genesis of the self-made tastemakers and editors-in-chief—in fashion, music, movies, art and photography. We at Young Star thought it was about time to meet the Royal Tumblr Family.” —Re: Blog by Karen Bolilia (read more)

“For a generation that’s been reared on the World Wide Web, the line between the Internet and real life is almost nonexistent, and this is especially true for determining the dictators of cool. […] But in the sea of fashion, food, and music bloggers, how can you tell whose blogs are worth a second look, and whose Twitter is worth that Follow?” —How To Spin Your Web: Optimum Online Presence 101 by Manica Tiglao (read more)

We’ve put together a hit squad of people behind the blogs that have been getting a lot of buzz. Here’s a post-party that you might want to find and follow.” —Team Tumblr (read more)

We still feel as bashful and giddy as when Karen first got in touch with us for this feature. Thanks and a virtual hug go out to Love Chic friends and readers. We owe it to Him and you.
